How To: Central Washington's Visitor Centers

A trip to Central Washington may be on the horizon, so it is important to be prepared. Central Washington has multiple visitor centers that you can visit and get all the information you need to have a well-educated experience. Whether you need directions, information on lodging and dining, or passes for entertainment and outdoor recreation, the visitor centers across Kittitas County are here to help. Let’s take a look into each of the visitor centers and what they each provide:
ELLENSBURG VISITOR CENTER
The Ellensburg Downtown Visitor Center is located on the corner of 4th and Pearl in downtown. This location is only open June to October on Saturday and Sunday. They are only open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. so make sure to take some time for them on your weekend. Feel free to re-energize at the Farmer’s Market next door, and explore the small businesses in our Historic Downtown. They also have phone charging stations and a seating area for visitors as well.
CLE ELUM VISITOR CENTER
Cle Elum’s Visitor Center serves as a hub of information for your recreational needs. You are able to find permits, guides, brochures, recreational maps, and advice on the best places to go right here downtown. With the multitude of local trails to go hiking, horseback riding, or dirt biking, the Cle Elum Visitor Center staff knows the area best and can help point you in the right direction. Find the visitor center 312 W 1st St in downtown Cle Elum. Don’t forget your Discover Pass, as most recreational areas in the Cle Elum area require them. Feel free to visit Monday through Saturday between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

ROSLYN VISITOR CENTER
The Roslyn Visitor Center is here to help as a last-minute stop before your mountain excursion. Uncover Roslyn’s diverse mining history, get information about upcoming events, and discover local businesses here. The visitors center is located in the NWI building in Roslyn. They are open Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

WILD HORSE WIND FACILITY
The Wild Horse Wind Facility was created by the Kittitas County Chamber of Commerce and Puget Sound Energy to provide local resources. Visitors are able to take a tour of the facility or explore several educational displays to learn more about wind and solar technology, as well as the history of Kittitas County. You can locate them at 25901 Vantage Highway between April and October. They are open every day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
