20TH ANNUAL DACHSHUNDS ON PARADE

Josie’s Misfit Ranch (JMR), a local animal rescue, will be hosting the beloved downtown event Dachshunds On Parade on June 17, 2023. The event is sponsored in part by Club 301, Valley Veterinary Hospital and The Ellensburg Downtown Association.

This is the 20th anniversary of Dachshunds on Parade. The event was founded by Brian McKean and his family as a Central Washington University class project in 2003 and was adopted by the Ellensburg Downtown Association (EDA) staff and volunteers in 2018 due to its popularity. Now the EDA has asked JMR to take the event’s reins.

Dachshunds can compete as usual in races, a costume contest, and trick competition for prizes and glory. But there will also be additional categories for small, medium, and large breed dogs that want to strut their stuff. For people wanting to enter their dog in the fun, you can register HERE or go to www.josiesmisfitranch.org/dachshundsonparade for more information.

JMR is proud to have Rob Lowery – former voice of the CWU Wildcats and KXLE radio personality – as the MC for the event. The Rodeo City Kiwanis Club is also hosting a pancake breakfast at 8 a.m. prior to the parade, which starts at 10 a.m. An after party, with free pizza for all the winners, will be hosted by Cornerstone Pie.

JMR is also looking for additional sponsors, as well as vendors for the event. Interested businesses can contact marla@josiesmisfitranch.org.
