The Guitar in the Gallery series presents classical guitarist, Michael Partington, in concert. Partington is known for his warm, conversational concert style as well as his technical command of the guitar. He is “one of those artists who possess a magic combination of a fluid technique with a wealth of musicianship.” Michael Partington has performed throughout the USA, Britain, Canada, Russia and Scandinavia in solo recitals, and with orchestra and in chamber ensembles. He was the first guitarist to present a solo guitar recital in Seattle’s Benaroya Hall. Partington has also played concerts in Seattle’s Town Hall and Meany Theater, and in Austin, Los Angeles, New Haven, Phoenix, Portland, Reno, San Francisco, Vancouver, and many other venues throughout North America. Partington’s concert in Ellensburg will feature pieces from his popular house concert program including sonatas by Domenico Scarlatti (a contemporary of J.S. Bach), music by 19th century German romantic composer Johann Mertz, Spanish dances by Isaac Albeniz, and Latin American composers such as Manuel Ponce, Jorge Morel, and Antonio Lauro. $10 Suggested Donation.
