Horseback Riding

Saddle up and explore the cascades on horseback. This is a fun and unique way to spend the day with the family. The following three businesses that offer trail rides, require that all riders must be 8 years or older. Each horse is chosen for the rider based on their riding ability, and you get to learn basic horsemanship skills, so it is a great learning experience for all.

A 1.5-hour trail ride through open forests and woodland grassy areas is $75.00 per person.

Corral #5 Visit Website

Trail Rides through Corral #5 are $60.00 per person.

Flying Horseshoe Ranch Visit Website

A two-hour guided trail ride is $35.00 per person. Flying horseshoe ranch will allow seven-year-olds to ride if they can carry their own saddle from the tack room to the fence.

Farmers Markets

Roslyn Farmers Market: Sunday's 10am-2pm in Roslyn. With live music, arts and crafts, fresh and local fruits and veggies, baked goods, and yummy treats, there is something for everyone. There are frequently fun activities the kids can participate in, so boredom can wait!

Kittitas County Farmers Market: This lively market takes place in Historic Downtown Ellensburg Saturdays 9am-1pm May through October. Explore booths filled with fresh produce, baked goods, hand crafted goodies, and much more. Buy a treat and snack while you shop.

Irene Rinehart Riverfront Park

Irene Rinehart Riverfront Park is the perfect setting for family fun. With a sand volleyball court, swimming beaches at Carey Lake, large lawns, picnic tables and barbecues, lots of fun is to be had. There is something for everyone to enjoy, so grab your volleyball, picnic supplies and head to Irene Rinehart Riverfront Park.

Wild Horse Wind Farm

Wild Horse Wind and Solar Facility & Renewable Energy Center is a fun educational way to spend time with the family. Learn how Central Washington embraces renewable energy with wind turbines. Learn how wind can become electricity in the Renewable Energy Center and take a guided tour of the Wind Farm so you can get up close to the massive wind turbines.

Bike Riding Coal Mines Trail

For an afternoon embracing the sunny Cle Elum days, a bike ride on Coal Mines Trail is the perfect way to get outside. This easy, flat trail is perfect for bicyclists of all levels, even for the little ones. Take breaks along the way and interact with the interpretive signs that teach you about the pioneers that first settled in this area and the importance of coal mining that made Cle Elum what it is today.

Lake Easton

Bring your kayaks, paddleboards, or fishing poles and enjoy a day out on the water at Lake Easton State Park. This beautiful and secluded lake and park is perfect for families. With play structures, a swimming beach, and grassy areas, the kids will have a blast running around and swimming. For adults you can enjoy basking in the sun, barbecuing lunch on the grills, or swimming and playing with the kiddos. Open 6:30 am to dusk.
